Both single-hung and double-hung windows are vertically sliding windows and have upper and lower sash. Single and double-hung windows may look identical when you look at it from a distance.
How are they different?
In a Single-hung window, the bottom sash moves vertically while the upper sash remains stationary. Double-hung windows , on the other hand, offer the homeowner the ability to open both the upper and the lower sash, rather than just the bottom.

This window type, however, is more expensive compared to the other because it contains more moving parts.
